Fine Arts




The Fine Arts Department offers a diverse range of exciting curricular and extra-curricular programs. More than 250 teachers instruct students in music, theater, and visual arts programs in 82 schools. The extensive Fine Arts Curriculum designed and implemented in the Wichita Public Schools aligns with the Kansas Department of Education Standards and the National Standards for Arts Education.



Vision Statement

The USD 259 Fine Arts Department will be the premier showcase for arts-in-education for the state of Kansas, where a rigorous Fine Arts curriculum is valued and supported through equitable resources and is connected to the community.

Mission Statement

USD 259 Fine Arts Teachers are dedicated to the advancement of individual/cultural understanding and appreciation through the study of Fine Arts by providing high-quality, standards-based Fine Arts experiences grounded in integrity, creativity and innovation.

Education Edge
The Education Edge Steering Team Committee granted $29,700 to Fine Arts for the 2012-13 school year to purchase kilns for visual arts programs, along with tubas and violins for beginning instrumentalists. We are very fortunate to have this continued support in our district.
